Neil O’Brien, MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston, attended the opening of the new car park at Market Harborough station, alongside representatives from Network Rail and The Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership, on Friday 6th July 2018.
The new £53 million car park, situated on the opposite side of the railway line to its predecessor, has 300 spaces as well as better CCTV and additional ticket machines. Improvements are set to continue, taking the capacity up to 500 by its completion next year.
Neil said, “The new station car park is the first in a series of improvements to the facilities at Market Harborough station, and on the railway itself, as part of the Midland Main Line Upgrade.
These developments will greatly improve rail passenger experience for my constituents, both in terms of ease and the speed of journeys. I'd like to pay tribute to everyone involved in making this happen, particularly given the issues this project faced earlier this year - their hard work on this is very much appreciated.”
