Coffee Pot at St Paul’s Church
Drop-in coffee morning for the over 50s which provides a space to meet and chat. Hot drinks are 30p and this is followed by a seated exercise class, which has an additional charge.
This takes place every Thursday at 10.30am at St Paul’s, Hamble Road, Oadby. LE2 4NX

The Friendly Bench
The Friendly Bench™ are purposely designed kerbside community gardens with seating created to help connect the elderly, socially isolated and those with limited mobility to people, to places and with nature.
The pilot The Friendly Bench™ is located in Bottesford, Leics. It is freely available for use 7 days a week throughout the year, in addition once a month The Friendly Bench™ volunteers run free to attend events at The Friendly Bench™ including afternoon teas, ‘Blokes, a brew and banter’ meet ups and ‘Ice Cream Sundays’.

Befriending Networks
A national charity who support befriending projects across the UK by providing advice, guidance, support and training to new or established befriending services. They also offer networking meetings and national conferences in Scotland and England. Membership starts at £75 per annum.
This is available to any organisation or group who either has an established befriending service or would like some advice on setting up a scheme.

Community Action Partnership (Community Transport Team)
A team of volunteers who provide Community Transport throughout Oadby & Wigston. They use volunteer drivers to pick up customers from their homes and transport them to various appointments, social groups, shopping etc. Customers need to be registered on the scheme (registration is free). They also run 2 lunch clubs a week- connecting individuals with one another and visiting various places in the community There is a small charge for the service. They also have a small fleet of wheelchair accessible vehicles.
The service they offer is tailored to meet individual’s needs – for example additional time can be given if it takes a while to walk to a vehicle, our volunteers will help wherever they can. This is available to older/vulnerable people or anyone experiencing difficulties accessing public transport, across Oadby & Wigston

LOROS Home Visiting Service
Provides trained volunteers to spend time with patients in their own home. This is to offer patients company, conversation and support in their own homes; and also the opportunity to go out and engage in community activities. The service can also benefit families and carers, to give them a break from their caring role, with peace of mind that their loved one is safe and occupied. Service available Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm.
The service is for patients that have been diagnosed with a terminal illness such as cancer or an advanced long-term condition. Referrals can be accepted from any Health or Social Care worker.
