Neil O’Brien, MP for Harborough, joined a delegation at the National Space Centre in Leicester to welcome James Brokenshire MP, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
The delegation included representatives from the University of Leicester, the Local Enterprise Partnership and local authorities, to discuss proposals to develop a new space park in Leicester. The ambitious project would see the creation of a number of highly skilled, well-paid jobs to benefit the wider Leicester and Leicestershire area.
Neil said, “This is a very exciting project which brings together a number of public and private sector stakeholders. The space park plans are ambitious and would see Leicester and Leicestershire at the forefront of the sector and really put us on the map for this cutting-edge research work.
These jobs and the wider economic impact would be of considerable benefit across both the City and County and I look forward to seeing plans hopefully coming to fruition soon.”
