Neil O'Brien, MP for Harborough, welcomed Rail Minister Andrew Jones MP to Market Harborough Railway Station on Thursday 27th June 2019.
The £53m investment to the station has seen improvements which include longer platforms, which will create more seats and improved journey times. The investment in Market Harborough forms part of the Government’s £1.5 billion Midland Main Line upgrade - the biggest upgrade of the line since it was completed in 1870.
The station has also benefited from improved accessibility with a new footbridge and lift, as well as 300 new car parking spaces (due to reach 500 by the end of the year).
Neil said, "This investment and the improvements it has led to across the station are very welcome news for my constituents. A large number use the station daily to commute to work, so anything which helps to improve their experience and journey times is great news."
