Neil O’Brien, MP for Harborough, has signed the Harborough Plastics Pledge at St. Dionysius Church in Market Harborough.
Neil was joined by local ward Cllr Barry Champion, Canon Brian Davis and Beth Prescott of Refill Revolution in Harborough Market.
The Pledge was launched by Eco Church Harborough and supported by Harborough District Council. It aims to encourage people to consider their usage of single-use plastics and greater recycling, by committing to a series of pledge.
Neil said, “It’s a fantastic initiative and I pay tribute to the Church and Council for their leadership on this hugely important issue.
We’re increasingly more aware of the wastage associated with single-use plastics in particular, and practical steps like those suggested on the Pledge can help us all reduce our reliance on these environmentally unfriendly materials.
I’d certainly encourage everyone else to review and sign – forms can be found at St Di’s Church or the Refill Revolution stand in Harborough Market.”
