Neil O’Brien, MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston, has praised Manor High School for their new community cuppa initiative, which he was invited to officially launch at the school.
Invitations were issued to local residents to join pupils, staff and governors for tea and biscuits at the school in Oadby. The event provided an opportunity for pupils to share and showcase their work with attendees, and also for residents to meet and share issues with their local MP.
Neil O’Brien said, “The morning was a great success, and I applaud the staff and pupils for their efforts on this. It was brilliant to hear updates from the pupils on their work, and also hear from some of the residents living nearby.
Initiatives like this not only strengthen community relations, but also provide a valuable learning opportunity for pupils outside of a traditional classroom setting. I wish the school every success with future events and look forward to hopefully visiting again in the future.”
Liam Powell, Headteacher of Manor High School said, “It was great to welcome our local MP to join us for this event, to meet both our pupils and neighbours.
The pupils enjoyed the opportunity to share details of their work with those in attendance, and are already looking forward to the next event.”
