Neil O'Brien, MP for Harborough has paid tribute to students from Welland Park Academy (WPA) in Market Harborough, for their work on climate change.
Students from WPA marched from their school to the offices of Harborough District Council (HDC) after school, to raise awareness of the dangers of climate change.
Neil then joined HDC Leader Cllr Neil Bannister, and Leader of the Opposition Cllr Phil Knowles, for a meeting with Student Council representatives to discuss the campaign in further detail.
Neil said, "It was a really useful meeting, the students were incredibly well informed on the subject and made a number of very good points.
It was reassuring to see HDC taking these points on board for local improvements and changes that could be made, and inviting students to work together with the Council on the future agenda.
Improvements have been made locally and nationally on key areas like emissions, but there is always more we should be doing and the Harborough Plastics Pledge is a fantastic example of this."
