Neil O’Brien, MP for Harborough, joined students from Welland Park Academy in Market Harborough, as they gave evidence to a Select Committee in the Houses of Parliament.
Students gave evidence to the Science and Technology Committee, about the impact of social media upon the mental health of young people. Their evidence will form part of a report the Committee is writing on this and is due to be published soon.
Following the evidence session, students then visited the education centre for an interactive workshop and Q&A session with Neil.
Neil said, “There is a lot more awareness now about the impact of social media, so it was great to join Welland Park Academy pupils as they gave their evidence for this important report. The students made a number of very useful and relevant points, which I’m sure will help the Committee in their report and any recommendations contained within it.
The Q&A session we had after the evidence session was also excellent. They asked a number of highly topical questions which was very encouraging.”
